Pepto Gives You A Black Tongue

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 by Anne

So you have an upset stomach and you take Pepto Bismol tablets.  You think everything should be better right?  Well for the most part it should help but you might develop a black tongue.

An ingredient in the pill reacts with sulfur and creates a black substance.  If you have eaten food with sulfur in it before you take the medication you could get a black tongue.  Thankfully  it should only last a day.

Stupid 911 Call

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 by Anne

A call was made to police by a local highway motel owner, over a guest’s refusal to pay his bills for using the services provided by the motel. When the officer arrived at the motel the owner explained to the officer how the guest was refusing to pay the money to the prostitute hired by the owner on the request of the guest.  In return the officer arrested the owner for caring on prostitution without a permit.

According to Parenting magazine.  58% of parents worry that their child’s birthday party isn’t as good as the neighbors!

Okay, let me set the record straight. If your child complains after you have put out your best effort for a birthday party, then you need to sit that child right down and explain the reality of life.  Some families have more money than others, some families have more time than others and some families have different values and traditions than others.  Your child needs to be taught to appreciate what has been done for them even if it doesn’t compare to the neighbors.

Now, the study wasn’t about the children, it was about the parents trying to keep up.  My advice to those parents…see above…

Follow The SPAM

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 by Matt

Have you ever wondered what happens if you actually buy something from a SPAM email?

No SPAMI’ve never bought anything from a SPAM email and I doubt that I ever would, but Mark Wade did.  Mark is a Manager of Research Content with CA’s Threat Research Team.  He wanted to find out exactly what would happen if he responded to a SPAM email and purchased something.

No surprise that they took his money and never sent what he bought.  What is interesting about it, is the route that things took through multiple spots in the US, China, and Cyprus.

The Baby Predictor

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 by Anne

I found a website called Fortunebaby.com that says it can predict the gender of your baby, how much weight you should gain, your due date and many other things.  Not that I really believe in the Chinese calendar but it was fun to see what they said.

According to the site I will be having a boy on April 25th 2008.  My due date from my doctor is April 28th.  I will be having an ultrasound in early December to find out the sex so we’ll see if it is right.

Music Increases Performance

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 by Marnie

Researchers have found that workers who listened to their favorite music improved job productivity and performance 10%.

My guess is this might be true for teenagers doing their homework.  I’ve always been one to think that music may be a distraction, but it turns out, the opposite may be true.

Dressing Up Your Pet?

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 by Marnie

50446.jpgIf you are dressing your pet in a costume this year, you’re not the only one.  An estimated one in ten pet owners will dress up their animal in Halloween gear.   Devils and pumpkins are very popular costumes followed by witches, princesses and angels.

Feels Good To Dance!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 by Marnie

Matt and I went to a Halloween party recently and there was a fabulous D.J there rockin tunes of the 80’s. Overall I was impressed by the amount of people dancing.  May have been the fact they were in costume and weren’t so self aware.

I wanted to give this piece of advice though. . .go ahead and get out there and dance!!  Who cares if your not the world’s greatest dancer.  No one else is either.  Dancing makes you feel happy and is great exercise.  So toss away the inhibitions and get out there and shake what God gave ya!  Everyone I saw that took the plunge and got out on the dance floor had a smile on their face and had a good time.
