With divorce rates so high, I like hearing about a couple who “makes it.”
According to the “Star Tribune” 101 year old Clarence Vail and his 99 year old wife, Mayme, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota just celebrated their 83rd wedding anniversary! Their daughter is seeking to have their marriage entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest married couple.

Carly Smithson, an American Idol hopeful this year had a previous record deal. Smithson whose maiden name is Hennessy signed with MCA in 1999. Her album was released in 2001 but never reached sales of 1,000 units. It is within American Idol rules to have had a prior deal just not be currently under contract. Yet, the controversy continues…is she a ringer?
