According to Woman’s World, two out of three cellphone users hear their phone ringing or feel them vibrating even when they aren’t.  Named “ringxiety” researchers found that the more you use your phone the more often you experience “ringxiety.”

I must use my phone a lot because this happens to me often, along with checking to make sure I have my silly phone whenever there is a change in setting.  Does this happen to you to?  It’s like if you don’t have your phone, it feels like you are missing something more important than in reality, it is.  There was a time, I can remember nobody had a cell phone and we weren’t in constant communication and people managed.   I need to remember that, next time I forget my cell phone!

This is the time of year that shopping is foremost on everybody’s mind.  Some of us like it, some don’t but there are some women who love to shop all year long.   In fact, some women love shopping maybe a bit too much.  According to Playboy, 40% of women say they prefer shopping to sex.  37% said they could be happy in a marriage without sex and that statistic rises to 50% for those married over 20 years.

In 2007, we said goodbye to a number of favorite characters, both real and fictional. Harry Potter, Hermione, and Ron, the creations of author J.K. Rowling, all of which whom earned the most fare-thee-well searches of 2007, and making it the final chapter of the young wizards’ adventures.  Anna Nicole Smith’s tragic passing intrigued many fans to search for her throughout the past year.  In that curious intersection of real and fictional worlds, the assassination of comic-book character, Captain America, who was gunned down after defending his civil liberties, was too laden with symbolism to ignore. His death provoked a strong search reaction, although plans for his legacy continue to be in the works.

Matt and I were talking about the excitment we would feel before Christmas.  It turns out one of the joys for both of us was when our mom’s came home with the Sears Wish Book catalog.

                                    

For kids today, they may not have the pleasure of curling up on the couch with a marker and circling all the wonderful toys and comfy slippers that they want from Santa, but they have something similiar.   The on-line wish list, is available at most retail websites.  My sister sent me an idea gift list for my young neice and nephew and it was a list from the Toys R Us website.  The kids went on line and checked the items that they wanted.  It took me back to the Sears catalog.  Call me old fashioned but I think the old way was better.  By better I mean, warmer, more of an event, something that became a tradition. It turns out Sears has brought the Wish Book back for 2007. 

                                   

Maybe on-line shopping will be a tradition for those in this generation.  I hope so, I hope they have the warm memories associated with being a kid at Christmas.
