With divorce rates so high,  I like hearing about a couple who “makes it.”

According to the “Star Tribune” 101 year old Clarence Vail and his 99 year old wife, Mayme, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota just celebrated their 83rd wedding anniversary!   Their daughter is seeking to have their marriage entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest married couple. 

A man in Winnipeg hasn’t seen his wife in 18 years.  Now he wants to get married again, but before he can do that he needs to divorce his long-lost wife.  So, he’s taken out a radio ad looking for information on her so he can get a divorce.

So, this email showed up in my mailbox this morning:

My name is SGT.DAVID PAM, I am an American soldier with Swiss background, serving in the military with the army’s 3rd infantry division. With a very desperate need for assistance, I have summed up courage to contact you. I found your contact particulars in an address journal. I am seeking your kind assistance to move the sum of ( $ 25 million u.s. dollars ) Twenty Five million united states dollars to you, as far as I can be assured that my share will be safe in your care until I complete my service here, this is no stolen money, and there are no danger involved.

Some money in various currencies was discovered in barrels at a farmhouse near one of Saddam’s old palaces in Tikrit-Iraq during a rescue operation, and it was agreed by staff Sgt Kenneth buff and I that some part of this money be shared among both of us before informing anybody about it since both of us saw the money first. This was quite an illegal thing to do, but I tell you what? No compensation can make up for the risk we have taken with our lives in this hell hole. Of which my brother in-law was killed by a road side bomb last week. You will find the story of this money on the web address below;

The above figure was given to me as my share, and to conceal this kind of money became a problem for me, so with the help of a British contact working here and his office enjoy some immunity, I was able to get the package out to a safe location entirely out of trouble spot. he does not know the real contents of the package, and believes that it belongs to a brithish/american medical doctor who died in a raid here in Iraq, and before giving up, trusted me to hand over the package to his family in united states.

Now, I know I’m not really going to get rich from this.  It’s just the latest version of the old Nigerian scheme to rip people off.  These sorts of emails have been floating around for years, but I’m amazed at the people who fall for this scam. 

Here’s some info from Snopes.com on the Nigerian email scam.

 I’ve heard of right brain, left brain, but  I had never heard this before.  According to “Self” you can use your nostrils to change your mood. 

We apparently breathe mostly through one nostril for about an hour and a half to two hours then switch.  The left side relaxes us and the right side makes us alert.  So…to calm down, close your right nostril for a bit,  or to get more alert, close your left nostril and breathe. 

Honestly, I haven’t tried this yet, so can’t give a testimonial. : )

Logizomechanophobia….the fear of computers.

I woke up the other day and realized I had two really bad dreams overnight.  Ones I could remember vividly and one in a re-occuring location.  I rarely remember having “bad” dreams but according to Psychology Today, we may have from 300 to 1,000 aggresive encounters in our dreams yearly.  Dreams like arguments, car crashes, missing a test or meeting or being naked in public are common examples.

The psychological name for the fear of snow is chionophobia.

A Democratic Virginia lawmaker has introduced a bill to ban fake testicle ornaments that are displayed on vehicles.  If caught, you’d face a fine of $250 for a class four misdemeanor.  According to the “Free Lance Star”  the lawmaker got the idea after his six year old granddaughter saw the fake testicles hanging from a truck and asked him what they were.

REALLY?   If he didn’t want to answer - he could of said… I dont know or just changed the subject, but NO, he wants to take chip away at another freedom.

Last night for dinner, I stopped and grabbed some fast food on the way home from work.  As often happens, I got home with the food and the order for Matt was wrong, so he zoomed back to the restaurant and got what I ordered.  Hassle?  Yes.

This happens so much, that we probably all check the bag before we leave, which I regret to say, I didn’t do yesterday.  But apparently some people have a harder time dealing with these minor hassles.

A man in Florida was apparently so mad that he didn’t get the two orders of french fries he ordered from McDonalds, that he rammed his car into the children’s play area and then crashed his car into the side of the building before speeding off. 

Police followed the broken glass and tracked him down. He now faces up to two year in jail.
