Endless Pool

August 28th, 2007 by Beau

I have been training to do a triathlon over the past few weeks. My goal is to do one next summer, so I have been getting up every morning to go to the gym and workout. Here’s the problem, I have a treadmill at home and I could get a stationary bike pretty easily, but I don’t have a pool so I get up and go do all of it at the gym.

Recently I have found and alternative, it’s called the endless pool. This thing looks like it rocks. It appears to be no bigger then a big hot tub yet you can swim laps. This is all possible because of a hydraulic pump that is feeding out 50,000 gallons of water per minute allowing you to stay stationary but feeling like your doing one continuous lap…..How cool is that!

EndlessPool.com is the answer, the pools are all custom made for your home, inside or out. I was unable to locate a price on these but I am sure they will set you back a pretty penny. On the other hand what I spend in gym memberships is a ton, around $500 a year and of course there was the initial registration fees, so who knows maybe it is worth it not to have to leave my house just for a pool.
